Nelbase needs to use a Session Cookie to know what information is to be displayed whenever you click on an active element (e.g. button, menu etc) or use the Browse function. Session Cookies are deleted when you close your browser.

Nelbase also uses a Persistent Cookie to:

• Know that you have visited the site before so it does not have to redisplay the cookie message on the opening screen.
  
• Redisplay the Welcome page whenever the session has timed out. For security your Nelbase session will "timeout" after 20 minutes of inactivity. If you have logged in normally [i.e. you did not use the Secure Login button*] then Nelbase uses this cookie to re-display the Welcome page so you do not have to log back in when the page times out. The reason we do not redisplay the record you were viewing is that the list may be password protected and you may not want anyone else with access to your computer to be able to view that list. The Persistent Cookie will expire after 60 minutes, we use our server to get the time so that if someone tries to set the time back on your computer they cannot access the list.
  
  *The Secure Login option should be used when you are on a public machine eg. Internet Cafe, Library. When you use the Secure Login we store a "dummy" persistent cookie to reduce the risk of someone hacking in to your list when you leave the public computer. If you are going to access a list containing confidential information always use the Secure Login button.
  
  IMPORTANT: If you logout using the Logout option on the file menu the data in the Persistent Cookie will be deleted. You should always logout this way especially when using Nelbase on a public computer (eg. Internet Cafe, Library) or even a friend's computer.

Nelbase Ltd respects the privacy of everyone who visits its Web Sites and any information collected about you will firstly be used to fulfil any service you might request and secondly improve how as a company we serve you. We do this by making appropriate use of the information.

This information will not be disclosed to anyone outside of Nelbase Ltd, its affiliated or associated companies and other companies with which Nelbase has arranged services for your benefit.

We do not give, loan, hire or sell any of your personal information to any other organisation.

It will be treated in accordance with the legal provisions under English law concerning data protection.
